MacRatLove: Interlude

I’m going to be taking a break from the current storyline to try something different; chronicling the lives of the Nine Inch Tails band members. Call it a change of scenery. The cute-minimalist comics are fun to draw, and they’re also relatively quick and easy, which means I’ll be able to work on the main MRL comics in the background, and hopefully build up a buffer of some sort. I apologize in advance if some of the comics seem like inside jokes, but I hope the general cuteness of the comics make up for that.

I've officially transferred the comic over to the new layout, which means that this blog is no longer a part of the main site. If you'd like to subscribe to the RSS for the new site, it can be found here. However, I realize quite a few people watch this blog or the Livejournal syndicate, so I'll continue to post updates onto here -- but I would really recommend checking out the new layout! I put a lot of work into it and I think it looks great. The old links still lead to the old layout, but I'm in the process of adding redirects. The site redesign ran into a slight problem so I'm holding off until next week to give it another shot. Hopefully there shouldn't be any downtime.

I went to the water park yesterday, and while it was amazing fun, I'm definitely feeling sore and worn out today. I lost a day working on the comic, and I think it shows, unfortunately; I kind of rushed through it. Sometimes I feel like I have to choose between having a social life and having a good comic.

Yes, this from the same people that gave us such advice as "Never walk with your hands full." As if college students, much less art students, could ever walk to school with anything -but- their hands full.

I'm hoping to get the new website up this weekend, so there may be some downtime, but I should have it sorted before Sunday's comic goes up.

I hadn't even planned on doing this comic. I was sitting quietly at work and the idea popped into my head and refused to go away. What's more, it demanded to be posted today, with the release of iPhone 2.0

I didn't actually get a chance to make it to the iPhone release, what with work and all. And no, I don't plan on buying the new phone, but I would have loved to just be there for the opening. Like minded geeks and all.

So yeah. Comic 50. That's something special I think.

This comic brings about the conclusion of the sleepover arc, and proves that Rori and I both fail at being young adults. Hey man, all that Wii ~~flailing~~ boxing is exhausting.

My family is kidnapping me to the Land of No Wi-Fi for the holiday weekend, so I won't be around, and there's a chance the next comic might not go up until late Sunday/Early Monday. You've been forewarned.

My mother is the Queen of bizarre snack foods, anything from cappucino flavored gum to giant gummi brains. I still remember one day in high school when I'd forgotten my lunch, and she dropped off a giant grocery bag full of halloween candy. When I moved away to college, she would bring me goody baskets of candy. She's a strange one, my mum.

Bonus points to anyone who gets the Buffy the Vampire Slayer references.

Alright, first to clear some things up. Rori is a girl. Yeah, I know, she doesn't look like a girl or act like a girl, but she's a girl. Trust me.

And yes, I'm a wii flailer. I'm also a button masher. But I have fun doing it. Got a problem with that? Mmhmm. We're good.

My random promotion of the day isn't a comic but rather an artist, which is so unlike me because usually I hate "real artists" but this stuff is pretty cool. Check out Skaffs for some cutesy cool drawings. Hey/They/It? had a show here in Hawaii that I just missed because I don't read the paper until the week after it comes out. Dunce.

The eyes got really big on this one. I'm not sure if it's cute or creepy. And we continue the sleepover story arc, which I've been planning to draw since sometime last year and never quite got around to it. Yay for procrastination and random unpredictable hiatuses!

In other news, big thanks to Jin Wicked of Crap I Drew on my Lunch Break for plugging MacRatLove on her comic. The sudden rush of visitors was thrilling but now that I'm back to my usual numbers it's kind of depressing. Not that I don't appreciate the readers I have, because you guys are great. Ok, first of all let me say that I hate coming up with titles for these things. I'm horrible at it. But on the other hand I hate looking for a specific comic and the archive is only dates so I have no clue which is which. So I give you horrible titles. Yes, I do this for you, the reader.

And yes, this comic is early in accordance to Hawaii time. Again, don't get used to it. I'm kind of like a natural disaster -- hope for the best but prepare for the worst. Something. Yeah.

Condo security decided to come knocking at 2:30 am to ask about a parking stall or something, I wasn't exactly coherent, but I couldn't get back to sleep after so I decided to finish the comic early and lucky for all of you. Don't get used to it.

Anyway, this comic was actually inspired a while back by a conversation I had with the creator of Gothbunnies. It kicked around in my head for a while before being randomly chosen for this week's comic, and I'm pretty pleased with how it came out, especially the 3/4th views. I don't do those very often.

And in other news, I've been accepted into one of those nifty internet collective groups. I can't vouch for the family friendliness of their work -- I think they only took me in to prevent their total damnation -- but whatever. They seem like a nice bunch and I'm looking forward to.. being bunchy with them.
